National Dog Day
National Dog Day is a celebration of every dog! This day was started in 2004 and continues to be an internationally recognized holiday by many! Instead of sharing dog facts with you this time, I thought it would be cool to tell you guys about some of the amazing jobs dogs do! Here is a list of some of them.
Lifeguards: trained to help keep the waters safe in Italy.
Truffle foraging dogs: trained to use their keen sense of smell to sniff out the underground fungi delicacy and they typically won't eat the truffles like their pig counterparts sometimes do.
Pest detecting dogs: trained to protect pieces of art from pests
Conservation dogs: trained to sniff out whale poop so humans can better study endangered species
Ball dogs: trained to chase after rogue tennis balls at the Brazil Open.
Sniffer dogs: trained to locate turtle eggs in 30 seconds, helping to keep nests safe.
Skydiving dogs: trained to skydive in Colombia to reach remote locations so they can help with rescues and other important missions
