Climate Commitment

1. Our Commitment

Ava's Pet Palace commits to doing its part to help limit global warming to 1.5°C. We will focus on practical climate actions that are meaningful for our business and realistic to manage. Our priorities are the areas we can influence most directly: purchased goods and suppliers, packaging, and business travel.

2. Our Carbon Footprint Baseline

For the period 31 December 2024 through 30 December 2025, Ava's Pet Palace measured a total carbon footprint of 16.39 metric tonnes CO2e. The largest reported category was purchased goods and services at 10.47 tCO2e, followed by commuting and homeworking associated with company leadership at 3.02 tCO2e and business travel at 2.88 tCO2e.

3. Our 2026-2027 Climate Targets

Target 1: Supplier engagement

By June 2027, discuss environmental practices with at least three key suppliers or co-manufacturers and document any practical opportunities identified.

Documentation: an email, completed question set, or short note from each supplier conversation.

Target 2: Packaging

Through December 2027, maintain at least 30% post-consumer recycled content in packaging that currently uses PCR and review at least one realistic packaging improvement, such as higher recycled content or less material.

Documentation: current packaging specification plus one supplier email, quote, sample, or review note showing the improvement considered.

Target 3: Business travel

By December 2027, reduce business-travel emissions by 20% from the 2025 baseline of 2.88 tCO2e, targeting no more than 2.30 tCO2e annually, while allowing for essential trade shows, retailer meetings, and other growth-related travel.

Documentation: one annual business-travel emissions total compared with the 2025 baseline.

4. Current Actions

·       Some of Ava's Pet Palace packaging uses approximately 33% post-consumer recycled material.

·       Direct-to-consumer website orders use carbon-neutral shipping.

·       The company consolidates shipments where practical and considers environmental impacts in procurement decisions.

5. Resources and Responsibility

The President serves as Climate Action Champion and oversees this plan as part of normal company operations. Climate actions are funded through existing procurement, packaging, travel, and operating budgets. Ava's Pet Palace does not maintain a separate climate department or dedicated climate budget; actions are incorporated into ordinary business decisions.

6. Stakeholder Involvement

Ava's Pet Palace will involve the stakeholders most relevant to each action. Suppliers and co-manufacturers may be asked about environmental practices, packaging vendors may help evaluate lower-impact options, logistics partners may support shipment efficiency, and customers will be able to view the company's public climate commitments and progress.

7. Monitoring, Approval and Review

Progress will be reviewed once per year using the company's carbon footprint results and the documentation listed with each target. The company does not require extensive files, formal supplier audits, or large reporting systems to implement this plan.

The plan will be formally approved by Ava's Pet Palace's highest governing body before publication. A full review and public update will occur at least every three years, with the next full update due no later than September 2029.

8. What We Will Keep as Evidence

·       The annual carbon footprint report or summary.

·       Three supplier emails, responses, or short review notes.

·       Current packaging PCR documentation and one record of a packaging improvement reviewed.

·       One annual business-travel emissions total.
